2009 Iloilo Food and Dining Yearend Updates
A Cebu based mid-class restaurant has conquered Iloilo. It has opened its branch in SM City Iloilo recently at the upper ground floor facing People Are People.
The new venture of Mr. Johnny Que in the food and beverage industry, Green Mango is capturing Ilonggos’ heart rapidly. Has been famous for its affordable food, Green Mango has introduced a new trend in the Filipino food industry, serving Filipino favorites in a fast-food restaurant style. In a short span of time Green Mango multiplied into 4 branches with SM City’s branch as the newest addition opened last November 27th 2009. Other 2 branches are in Jaro that opened simultaneously in E. Lopez and Jaro Plaza. The main branch is located along the rapidly transformed foodie’s hub Valeria Street in the City Proper. Other specialty restaurants by Mr. J Que are; Bauhinia, Nothing But Desserts and Amalfi Cucina Italiana.
The Grand Palace Cuisine at The Grand Tower
The Grand Palace Cuisine the flagship dining restaurant of Iloilo Grand Hotel is opening its second branch at the newly opened The Grand Tower in Iznart Street, the former TTK Tower that hosts the Imperial Appliance showroom. The Grand Palace Cuisine serves delicious Chinese gastronomy that made it famous to the Ilonggos.
Turo-turo style dining is also available at The Grand Tower which is a food court style dining but a a different level where you eat at an almost fine-dining ambience.
Mang Inasal E. Lopez
The latest addition to the ever growing chain of Mang Inasal branches in Iloilo, located along E. Lopez Street in Jaro.
The latest venture of Mr. Cornelion Legayada who owns Crest Spa Aroma is a restaurant. Crest Grill is located in West Timawa Avenue, Infante in Molo. They serve local favorites such as value and combo meals, rice toppings, pasta, sandwiches and sizzling dishes at affordable prices. They take pride in their various Chicken offerings such as the Lemon Chicken, Tai-Chien Chicken and Gen Tsos Chicken.
Another mid-class restaurant that specializes in authentic Spanish cuisine, a Manila based Dulcinea has opened a branch in SM City Iloilo. It is owned by an Ilonggo entrepreneur Mr. Mars Florete who also owns the Sbarro franchises in the country. Dulcinea is located at the upper ground floor of SM City Iloilo beside Green Mango.
Ted’s OldTimer Lapaz Batchoy and Steakhouse with Dulgies
Another spot to taste the authentic Iloilo Lapaz Batchoy is set to open in Diversion Road in Mandurriao. A building is being constructed in the emptied location of Chad’s car wash. It will not only host Ted’s Batchoy but also the famous Dulgies Cakes and Pastries shop of the Borros will be opening there along with their new venture a Steakhouse by Ted’s. 3 restaurants in one location will surely be a reason to come.
Coffee Break Gaisano Lapaz
Ilonggo pride Coffee Break is replacing the recently closed shop Red Ribbon Bakeshop in Gaisano Capital Lapaz. It would be the first coffee shop in Gaisano and the 2nd branch in Lapaz.
