Last night I was invited by Marcos of exploreiloilo.com to a media exclusive dinner at Amalfi Cucina Italiana in The Avenue, Smallville. It was a “Media Appreciation Night” by Amalfi in a celebration because they are included in the Philippine Tatler’s “Philippine’s BEST Restaurants 2009″.

It is really an Ilonggo pride, Amalfi has been present for less than a year after its opening last December 2008 but it is already making wave in the very competitive food service industry in Iloilo and even in the Philippines. This is just showing the world that Iloilo has gone posh in dining. We are not only serving best seafood, tasty Lapaz Batchoy and Pancit Molo, juicy chicken inasal, and many other local cuisines but we got variety of international choices for the gourmands and the foodies.
Philippine Tatler has been reckoning the vast array of Philippine restaurants to pick the best for their yearly book guide for the gourmets. This year is the fifth edition of this best-seller guide which is a compilation of over 150 of the country’s top restaurants in Manila, Baguio, Boracay, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Tagaytay. Each restaurant was reviewed anonymously and rated in five key areas — setting, food, wine (or in some cases, juices and cocktails), service and price — to provide for quick and easy reference. It also features 18 maps to help diners locate the restaurant of their choice as well as a convenient index that lists the best restaurants in alphabetical order, by the type of cuisine and by location in separate indices at the back of the guide. In Iloilo there are three local especialty restos that serve international cuisines included in the list; Al Dente Ristorante Italiano (Italian), Amalfi Cucina Italiana (Italian), and Bourbon Street Grill and Bar (American). Hope that in the coming years there will be entries from Bacolod and other cities in Western Visayas as well to prove that we are also a dining destination region. The online version of this guide is available at www.taasty.com.
If you want to experience real authentic Italian cheese, wine and many other gourmet Italian treats visit Amalfi Cucina Italiana right at the center of Iloilo’s premier entertainment center and get ready to experience Italy in Iloilo.
Amalfi was also featured in the August issue of F&B World Magazine.

DEFINITELY! Iloilo is a dining destination in the Western Visayas region. I was there (Amalfi & Bourbon) last December to savor their expertise in the culinary arts and, truly, they meet basic international standards (or should I say, close to). Speaking of which, I will go international all the way on my next trip there.
Jun, great shots of foods! Thanks for this post, now, that made me long more to go back there SOON!
Hehe.I should’ve had better shots but i got a shaky hand and I really find it hard to shoot with a P&S camera in a dim setting, I got a lot of invalid shots. I’ll buy a mini-tripod soon. and of course if I got the money I’ll buy an SLR..(Wishing for it badly)…
JUN, one trick for shaky hands in a dim setting is to use your camera’s TIMER. It works for me! Hey, Jun, one day, you’ll get what you’ve wished for!
Yes Lee i’ve used it and i got a better result but still i got blurry images. It’s really my hand that tend to shake everytime I shoot, hehe.Maybe a heavier gear or a tripod would lessen it. Hence DSLR fits for me.hahahaha.Soon
