Antique Medical Center Soon to Serve Antiquenos

| August 16, 2011 | 5 Comments

Antique Medical Center, the first private hospital to rise in Antique will soon be opened to cater to the health and medical needs of Antiquenos. The 220 bed tertiary hospital is a project developed and owned by the Diocese of San Jose de Antique.

The Antique Medical Center will be fully equipped with modern and state-of-the-art facilities so that Antiquenos need not travel hours to Iloilo when there are serious medical needs. The present occupancy rate of Angel Salazar Provincial General Hospital, the only secondary hospital in the province is at an average of 135% in 2006 and 154% in the first 8 months of 2007.

The 5-storey hospital building is now standing with the first three floors architecturally completed. The front of the building is also almost done up to the fifth floor and the penthouse. The total budget for the construction is Php120 million sourced from a bank loan and Php20 million from donations.

The building’s Project Design and Project Management and Supervision is commissioned to Medicotek, Inc., a leading healthcare facility solutions company.

The ground floor will house the Emergency Room, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Radiology Department with CT scan, X-ray and Ultrasound. The temporary Out-Patient Department for Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics and OB-Gyne will be at the lobby of the hospital. (This will be relocated later to a different building.)

The second floor will have the Operating Room complex (2 major OR theaters, 1 minor OR, Labor Room, Delivery Room, Post Anesthetic Care Unit (Recovery Room)), Central Supply and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Coronary Care Unit will have 4 cubicles and the Intensive Care Unit will have 4 beds. There will be four suite rooms and 9 semi-private rooms with 4 beds for each room.

The hospital will have two hospital bed elevators and a service elevator.

The third, fourth and fifth floors are designed to house all private rooms. Half of the third floor may be leased to physicians for their private clinics.

The penthouse is planned for the dietary department, a chapel and reserved rooms for the priests and the religious.

On the ordination of Rev. Fr. Jose Bantolo as Bishop on August 22, 2011, the ground floor of the Antique Medical Center will be inaugurated, including the Emergency Room, CT scan, RF and Ultrasound. Bishop Bantolo will be assigned as Bishop of Masbate and his installation will be on September 6, 2011.
