Tribu Paghidaet during the Western Visayas Tourism Assembly 2009 in Roxas City

The highlights of Dinagyang Festival 2010 is slated January 22 – 24, 2010 that includes the Ati-ati Contest and the Kasadyahan Festival. Recently at least 18 tribes have registered and signed for the Dinagyang Ati-ati Contest and so far at least 10 entries for the Kasadyahan Competition. The complete list of names of the participants in next year’s celebration is listed below.

Dinagyang 2010 Ati-ati Contest Tribe participants:

  • Tribu Ilonganon
  • Tribu Aninipay
  • Tribu Atub-Atub
  • Tribu Pag-asa
  • Tribu Bantu
  • Tribu Salognon
  • Tribu Himal-us
  • Tribu Panagat
  • Tribu Paghidaet
  • Tribu Milagrosa
  • Tribu Silak
  • Tribu Bola-Bola
  • Tribu Pana-ad
  • Tribu Pan-ay
  • Tribu Angola

The Dinagyang 2009 grand champion was Tribu Paghidaet of Lapaz National High School and will defend its title in next year’s tight competitions with the aforementioned tribes.

The grand champion receives a cash prize and will represent Iloilo Dinagyang Festival in various tourism events around the country. The biggest representation is during the Aliwan Fiesta organized by  the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) held annually in Metro Manila.

Participants of Kasadyahan Competitions 2010:

  • Tribu Tangyan of Igbaras
  • Tribu Tambubu of Ajuy
  • Tribu Tubong-Tubong of Tubungan
  • Tribu Pandayan of Badiangan
  • Tribu Tinuom of Cabatuan
  • Tribu Kasag of Banate
  • Tribu Gimanban of New Lucena
  • Tribu Maninipon of Barotac Viejo

The Kasadyahan champion will also represent Iloilo in the yearly grand celebration of Aliwan Fiesta in Manila. This year’s grand champion was Tribu Kasag of Banate that bagged the 1st runner up in Aliwan 2009.

    No Lee, it has been a tradition that on the Saturday of the Dinagyang week held is one of the highlights, the Kasadyahan Competition that showcases the cultural fiestas of the towns in Iloilo.What will actually happen is the other way around, it was proposed that by 2011 Kasadyahan Festival Competition will be separated from the Dinagyang to give it a proper avenue to emerge itself.will be posting updates for that soon.Therefore, DInagyang 2010 would be the last joint celebration of Kasadyahan and the DInagyang Ati-ati COntest itself.
