Bon Appetea Bubble Tea Shop opens in Iloilo City
Bon Appetea, another Manila-based bubble tea shop opens a branch here in Iloilo City.
A homegrown tea shop, Bon Appetea has established its name in the flavored-tea business with several branches all over Metro Manila and Cebu.
In Iloilo, Bon Appetea will set up shop at the former location of Afriques in Hotel del Rio along M.H. del Pilar Street in Molo district.
The Taiwanese bubble tea or popularly known as pearl milk tea or just milk tea has drawn a cult following with students and yuppies here in the Philippines. Milk tea shops, both homegrown and Taiwan-based have proliferated all over the places in Metro Manila. Just recently, the trend started to invade the countryside and has reached Iloilo shores.
With the lack of homegrown alternatives in the provinces these Manila-based milk tea shops are taking the lead to bring the culture in places like Iloilo. In no time, the Taiwan-based bubble tea shops will surely follow suit.
For now, if you’ve been bitten by the bug and you are in Iloilo, you can have your milk tea fix at Moonleaf Tea Shop along General Luna street (near Assumption) or at TrEA House in Smallville (Red Square Building). Some coffee shops like Figaro and Starbucks at SM City Iloilo also offer their versions of milk tea.
Bon Appetea Iloilo is expected to open by July 4, 2012.
