CAPIZtahan 2011 Schedule of Activities, April 15 – 17

Roxas City and the province of Capiz are all set to celebrate the CAPIZtahan 2011. The 3-day event which will be held in Roxas City on April 15 – 17, 2011 will mark the 110th foundation day commemoration of the Civil Government of Capiz.

It will  showcase several unique and spectacular activities to showcase the best of the Capizenos. Various events are lined up to promote the province as the premiere tourist “seafood trip” destination in the country.

This year’s theme is “Public-Private Partnership: Foundation of Good Governance.” which embodies the strong Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the city and province evident in bringing progress and developments to the Capizenos.

One of the highlights of this year’s Capiztahan 2011 is the “Electric Parade,” which will showcase giant images of sea creatures.

The parade will start from the Roxas City Public Plaza and will end at the La Playa de Roxas People’s Park in Brgy. Baybay with about 27 floats joining the parade.

The Regional Development Council 6 (RDC-6) chaired by the Capiz Governor himself, Gov. Victor A. Tanco will also hold its quarterly meeting on April 16.

Other events including concerts and food festivals, fireworks display and many more are lined up to give boost to the event.

Below are the detailed schedule of activities for the CAPIZtahan 2011.

Day 1 (April 15, 2011):

7 a.m. – Thanksgiving Mass, Roxas City Immaculate Conception Cathedral

8 a.m – Flag-raising Ceremony, Capitol grounds

8:30 a.m. – Wreath-laying at the monument of President Manuel Acuña Roxas, Roxas City Public Plaza

9a.m.- Photo Exhibit (Centennial Celebration of the Provincial Capitol), lobby of the ground floor of Capiz Provincial Capitol

9:30 a.m. – CAPIZtahan Comics (Caricatures, Apr. 15 to 17), Balay Capiznon

10:00 a.m. – Job Fair (Apr. 15-16) at the Roxas City Hall; the Trade and Horticulture Fair (Apr. 15-17), Provincial Park; and Medical Mission (Apr. 15-17), Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital.

11a.m. – National Cock Fighting Derby, Capiz Gym

12 noon - Chef Margarita Fores will conduct a cooking demo and opening of Seafood Fair (Apr. 15-17) with Colorful Display of Boats at the Baybay beach, People’s Park, Baybay

2 p.m. – Inauguration of Sen. Gerardo Roxas District Hospital in Dao

5 p.m. – Concert for the Centennial Celebration at the Provincial Capitol

7 p.m. – Cultural Show (Showcase of Capiznon Talents) featuring Angeline Quinto (ABS-CBN Star Power Winner), Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.

Day 2 (April 16, 2011):

10 a.m.  - First Quarter Meeting for 2011 of the Regional Development Council (RDC), Hall of Governors at the Capiz Provincial Capitol

2 p.m. – Farmer’s Day, Villareal Stadium here

3 p.m. – General Assembly of the Capiz Women’s Inc., Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center

5 p.m. – Unveiling of Arnaldo Blvd. Beautification Marker

5:30 p.m. – Launching of Ordinance on Standard Time, Roxas City Band Stand

6 p.m. – Electric Parade featuring Venus Raj, Roxas City Plaza to People’s Park

7 p.m. – Fireworks Display, People’s Park, Baybay

Day 3 (April 17, 2011):

8 a.m – Radio Mindanao Network (RMN’s) Baroto Race, Panay River along Capiz Bridge

1 p.m. – Halad sang Bombo and Star F.M sa Capiznon will feature Battle of the Bands and Dance Showdown, Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center

7 p.m.- Concert at the Stadium with Divest Band and matinee idol Jericho Rosales, Villareal Stadium

CAPIZtahan 2011 is spearheaded by the United Capiceños Foundation Inc. (UCFI), also known as “One Capiz”, the provincial government of Capiz and the city government of Roxas.
