Before leaving for Boracay, the Sooo Pinoy team had a filling breakfast with no less than, Iloilo’s famous Lapaz Batchoy right inside the Lapaz Public Market.

Netong’s Lapaz Batchoy is one of the original carenderias inside Lapaz Market to trump up this soup which eventually became an icon for Iloilo.

Traditionally brewed coffee in tin cans were served to us from the famous Madge Café nearby. Madge is known to be a popular venue where Ilonggo politicians and local politics aficionados converge and for its traditionally brewed coffee, a truly Ilonggo style in that sense, perfected for its more than 50 years in the business.

Before we finally embark on 5-hour or so roadtrip to Caticlan we had a pitstop at Jaro Cathedral, the seat of Catholicism in Western Visayas and bought some pasalubongs at Deocampo’s Barquillos where we saw how barquillos are made.

The Boracay adventure will be in the next post.
