Developments in Iloilo to Watch out this 2010

Some of these have already been mentioned in my previous posts here but I’ll be reposting them for this list. These proposed projects are expected to be finished within 2010 and some will commence construction within the year. Iloilo is really sprawling out with developments this 2010.

Iloilo New City Hall

New Iloilo City Hall - A 7-storey edifice that will rise at the old location of Iloilo City Hall in Plaza Libertad. The new city hall will incorporate the facades of four heritage buildings in Iloilo City – the old Masonic Temple, Iloilo Customs House, University of the Philippines Visayas and the old City Hall. There will also be a 2-storey parking bay to be constructed beside it. The groundbreaking is set on Feb. 15, 2010.

Iloilo Coal Fired Power Plant

Coal Fired Power Plant - This is expected to be fully operational by the year ends. Located in Brgy. Ingore, La Paz, Iloilo City, this new power Facility by the Global Business Power is designated to alleviate the power shortage in the city in order to accommodate more investments especially in the ICT industry.

Iloilo Flood Control Project

Iloilo Flood Control Project – Iloilo City and its outlying areas, stretching over low and flat land, are vulnerable to large-scale flooding and mudslide disasters frequently during the rainy season. One of the most fateful flood that hit Iloilo was in 2008 that raked billion pesos worth of infrastructures and livelihood. This project is designed to channelize the raging water coming from the highlands during the rainy season and is expected to be complicated before the year ends.

Iloilo Scholastic Academy Mandurriao Campus

Iloilo Scholastic Academy (ISA) Mandurriao Campus – The construction is in full swing right now, located at the back of SM City Iloilo in Mandurriao.

Ateneo de Iloilo (Adi-SMCS) New Site - San Rafael, Manduarriao, Iloilo City

KAPIDECO Estate

Ayala Iloilo Technohub - The first project of AyalaLand in Iloilo. Ground breaking will be on March of this year and expected to be fully operational by November this year.

Smallville 21 Hotel

Smallville 21 Hotel – Smallville, Manduarriao, Iloilo City

Megaworld – Expected to ground break this year after being bearish due to the financial breakdown in the world market.

Plazuela de Iloilo

Plazuela de Iloilo – Expected to be fully operational by October 10, 2010 (10-10-10).

Paseo de Arkangeles – A night life strip. The newest dining and night spot destination in Iloilo. Located right beside SM City Iloilo.

Iloilo Supermart Villa

Iloilo Supermart Villa – The 6th addition to the Iloilo Supermart chain. Located right in front of the district’s plaza.

Santos Commercial Arcade

Ciudad de Iloilo - a new low-cost subdivision and townhouses located in Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City

City Hardware Jaro – the second City Hardware in the city.

Miagao Church Restoration

Miagao Church Restoration – Miagao Church is being restored to its original state as part of the funding to all UNESCO World Heritage sites.

    I do hope and pray that as Iloilo progresses, the people who invest in its development think of the beauty of Iloilo. It is important that we preserve whatever few heritage places are remaining. Our older generation need something to remind them of how beautiful Iloilo was then and our younger generation need to have some Ilonggo history and culture to appreciate, and hopefully be inspired to make Iloilo the best it can become! It is indeed sad that several ancestral homes and General Luna Street have been sacrificed in the name of progress.

    Yes exactly, they should’ve located the second flyover to other congested intersections of the city. It really ruined the landscape of Gen Luna.Regarding Calle Real there is a propose revitalization of the entire Old CBD.I think the city council works on expanding the coverage of the Iloilo City Cultural Heritage and Conservation Council(ICCHCC) to cover all districts,because recently I think they can only protect heritage bldgs in Calle Real.

    hi kuya jun..how are u?ask ko lang sana if totoo ba na binili ng sm city ang marymart mall?totoo din ba na gagawa ng mall ang sm city malapit sa airport?imagine 5 malls ang sm sa iloilo….sm city, sm delgado, sm jaro, sm quentin salas..din yong marko that will converted to sm hypermarket ata………..wala ba balita kung kailan magtatayo na mall ang ayala dito?like trinoma…..hehehe….tapos ung metropolis ni manny villar sana gagawa din sya idto…thank and godbless u

    So far there is no confirmation yet of SM buying Marymart but it has been in the pipeline. SM Prime has a lot near the airport for future expansion of Savemore perhaps. Yes Makro Iloilo will be part of the total overhaul of Makro Philippines after it has been fully acquired by SM Prime. Ayala Technohub will break ground this March and that has an arcaded commercial spaces on the ground floor although the building is intended for BPOs.Im not sure of Metropolis, What I’ve heard is that Savanna is building its own commercial arcade within the subdivision.

    You mean kuya jun. sm has a lot near iloilo airport in sta.barbara?

    i think sm is opening its 2nd mall in cebu?right?i think is bigger mall than other sm city in cebu….i wish to have also in iloilo…maybe they can put a supermall near the airport…

    how about the megaworld in the old airport?when they open?

    wow iloilo is growing and growing….maybe will be a preamire city by 2015…

    hey! iv heard frm an acquaintance working at megaworld that they are starting the development about 2nd quarter this year. (He suppose to be assigned n iloilo but refuses the offer), plans are on furnish now. they were opted since ayala land will start early this year, please give us update and pics, thnx! by the way, what call center company will occupy the SM Annex?

    Thanks for that info…I don’t think SM Annex is designed for a Call Center or any BPO, it is a bit smaller for such requirement. The ground level is for coffee shops and Mooon Cafe and coffee are one of the confirmed tenants.For the second level I am not sure yet.

    Hello jun…just opened this blog site and its interesting to know bout recent developments that is happening sa iloilo city ba… ive been away for 4 years now…vancouver is little bigger than toronto, canada, but what I mean i have learned good governance propell economic developments…especially with participation of private sector. Im hoping that someday we ilonggos, here in canada will join hand hand what I mean form a new breed of ilonggos with the heart to make just a little projects in iloilo city …not just a project but projects nga indi bala sub standard kondi world class project ba biskan gamay lang peru with good quality … you know what I mean…anyway just my suggestion. thank you so much anyway for all the updates.

    i heard rumors that sm prime holdings will be planning to have an sm branch here in trapiche, oton iloilo.whether it is an hypermarket,supermall,stand-alone dep. store or supermarket. theres no big deal in in investing at oton. i think oton is now the biggest land area and also had a huge population in the southern iloilo and hoping to become a city.
