Developments in Iloilo to Watch out this 2010
Some of these have already been mentioned in my previous posts here but I’ll be reposting them for this list. These proposed projects are expected to be finished within 2010 and some will commence construction within the year. Iloilo is really sprawling out with developments this 2010.
New Iloilo City Hall - A 7-storey edifice that will rise at the old location of Iloilo City Hall in Plaza Libertad. The new city hall will incorporate the facades of four heritage buildings in Iloilo City – the old Masonic Temple, Iloilo Customs House, University of the Philippines Visayas and the old City Hall. There will also be a 2-storey parking bay to be constructed beside it. The groundbreaking is set on Feb. 15, 2010.
Coal Fired Power Plant - This is expected to be fully operational by the year ends. Located in Brgy. Ingore, La Paz, Iloilo City, this new power Facility by the Global Business Power is designated to alleviate the power shortage in the city in order to accommodate more investments especially in the ICT industry.
Iloilo Flood Control Project – Iloilo City and its outlying areas, stretching over low and flat land, are vulnerable to large-scale flooding and mudslide disasters frequently during the rainy season. One of the most fateful flood that hit Iloilo was in 2008 that raked billion pesos worth of infrastructures and livelihood. This project is designed to channelize the raging water coming from the highlands during the rainy season and is expected to be complicated before the year ends.
Iloilo Scholastic Academy (ISA) Mandurriao Campus – The construction is in full swing right now, located at the back of SM City Iloilo in Mandurriao.
Ateneo de Iloilo (Adi-SMCS) New Site - San Rafael, Manduarriao, Iloilo City
Ayala Iloilo Technohub - The first project of AyalaLand in Iloilo. Ground breaking will be on March of this year and expected to be fully operational by November this year.
Smallville 21 Hotel – Smallville, Manduarriao, Iloilo City
Megaworld – Expected to ground break this year after being bearish due to the financial breakdown in the world market.
Plazuela de Iloilo – Expected to be fully operational by October 10, 2010 (10-10-10).
SM City Annex (The Southpoint) – Undergoing final finishing.
Iloilo Society Commercial Jaro
TTW Corporate Center - Right across the Freedom Grandstand along J.M. Basa St., Iloilo City. Also known as “The Eagle Building” with an imposing eagle in the architecture of its facade, this building is being renovated with arcaded ground floor designed to accommodate food chains and retailers.
St. Therese AAS Building – La Fiesta Site, Molo Iloilo City
Transcom – The leading European Call Center is the newest addition to the call center industry of Iloilo. Located at the second floor of Amigo Plaza Mall, Transcom is now operational with hundreds of Ilonggos hired.
Paseo de Arkangeles – A night life strip. The newest dining and night spot destination in Iloilo. Located right beside SM City Iloilo.
Iloilo Supermart Villa – The 6th addition to the Iloilo Supermart chain. Located right in front of the district’s plaza.
Santos Commercial Arcade Sta. Barbara
Ciudad de Iloilo - a new low-cost subdivision and townhouses located in Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City
City Hardware Jaro – the second City Hardware in the city.

Miagao Church Restoration – Miagao Church is being restored to its original state as part of the funding to all UNESCO World Heritage sites.
