Dinagyang Festival emerged as the Aliwan 2010 Grand Champion

Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival contingent emerged as the Grand Champion in the recently ended Aliwan Fiesta 2010 in Manila. After few years of trying to covet the crown again from Cebu’s Sinulog Festival, finally Dinagyang  retained its diadem as the grand Champion of the country’s biggest gathering of festivals, the Aliwan Fiesta.

The competitions was tough among Iloilo’s own Kasag Festival of Banate, Hermosa Festival of Zamboanga and Dinagyang Festival but the pride of Iloilo came out to take the crown back home. Dinagyang was represented by Tribu Paghidaet of Lapaz National High School, the overall champion in Dinagyang 2010 here in Iloilo City. Banate Iloilo’s Kasag Festival landed as the 2nd runner up with Hermosa Festival as the 1st runner up. The other contingent sent by Iloilo City to Aliwan 2010, Paraw Regatta Festival hitched the runners up spot.

Angelie Joy Golingay the Dinagyang Festival Queen 2010 bagged the 1st runner up award in the Reyna Ng Aliwan competitions. Iloilo don’t have an entry to the float contest this year.
