Iloilo-Guimaras Investment Forum 2009 in Manila

Iloilo-Guimaras Investment Forum 2009

After the first ever Iloilo Investment Forum last 2008 held at the Sarabia Manor Hotel in Iloilo City here comes this year’s event but now will be in Metro Manila. Organized by Iloilo Economic Development Foundation, Inc. (ILEDF), the assembly will be held at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Makati on September 4, 2009. The forum will focus on the investment opportunities and potentials of Iloilo City and the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras. This will include industries in Information and Communications Technology, tourism and agribusiness.

The Iloilo-Guimaras Investment Forum in Manila will be opened with a commercial exhibit at 8am and this will only be a half-day event.

Mr. Ramon del Rosario, Jr., the new chairman of the University of Iloilo, and president of PHINMA Group will be the keynote speaker. He will deal on their visions in investing in education in Iloilo. Other speakers who will join the forum are Oscar R. Sanez, president of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines; Narzalina Z. Lim, former tourism secretary now president of Asia-Pacific Projects, Inc. Tourism and Hospitality Consultants; and Jesus N. Alcordo, president of Global Power Business Corp., currently constructing a coal-fired power plant in Iloilo. Also to deliver the luncheon address is Bank of Philippine Islands’ (BPI) president and CEO, Aurelio R. Montinola III.

This will be a great avenue for investors and businessmen to see and consider Iloilo and Guimaras in their business expansions and developments. Iloilo, being the center of education in Western Visayas that produces thousands of well crafted graduates in various industries can sustain huge investments with the support of the local govenrments. The coal fired power plant is near completion and there is still the eyed Wind Farm project in Guimaras that will surely boost the local economy. I am bullish that this forum will crop big investors and lure them to invest in Iloilo.
