Here are the photos of the successful 38th Paraw Regatta Festival of Iloilo City. This year’s theme is “Honoring a Proud Filipino Seafaring Tradition.” Tourists both local and foreign trooped to the beaches of Villa to witness the largest sailing event in the Philippines. Herds of Norwegians were also present who believe in the ability of the Filipinos (Ilonggos for that matter) to be the best seafarers in the world.
The Paraws (local outriggers) are painted with the colorful artworks depicting the lives of the Ilonggo seafarers both local and the traveling abroad. They are from just simple drawings to the intricate pieces but still at the end of the race winners will emerge as the best sailors of the competition.
