Mahanaim Inland Resort to boost tourism in Pototan, Iloilo

Mahanaim Inland Resort a new attraction in Pototan, Iloilo is expected to boost the tourism potential of the town. It was inaugurated last June 11, 2010 but was not opened for the public yet due to some last minute finishing.

Etymologically, Mahanaim is a Hebrew word for “two camps” and used as a name of one of the significant places in the Bible. Located in the hectares of farmland in the middle of mango plantations in Pototan, Mahanaim Inland Resort features amenities that will  surely keep visitors from coming back. Some of the amenities already operational are the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a pavilion available for functions. There will be another swimming pool to be constructed and it will have an Olympic size which will also be used for the training of swimming athletes of Pototan. Many further and future developments are in the pipeline for Mahanaim Inland Resort. Some of those are the accommodation facilities to cater guests who prefer to stay overnight, children’s playground and  sports facilities.

Mahanaim Inland Resort is primarily a family getaway specifically designed for those who want to mingle with nature while enjoying a real vacation. Being a family resort, Mahanaim will be a drug, smoke and alcohol – FREE vicinity, and they will strongly implement that in cooperation with the local government.

This bullish development in Pototan brought livelihood to the locals as they serve as the workers in building the resort. Mango plantation still holds the biggest part of the land area; hence, it is in the master plan to develop a mango processing facility within the area, to benefit the local women.

How to get there:

Iloilo Tagbak Terminal

Pototan is 30 km north of Iloilo City famous for their annual IWAG Festival. It is accessible via Bus and Jeepneys at the Tagbak Terminal in Jaro. Mahanaim Inland Resort is located in Sitio Inadlayan, Brgy. Iwa Ilawod, Pototan, Iloilo some 6 km away past the town’s proper if you are bound to Roxas City. From the highway, you will have a short bumpy ride uphill to get to Mahanaim. Tricycles from Pototan town proper can bring you to Mahanaim Inland Resort depending on the price you will agree on.
