Medicus Center for Sleep Medicine opens in Iloilo City

A full-pledged sleep disorders diagnostic and treatment center is finally here in Iloilo! Medicus, the leading laboratory and out-patient clinic provider in Iloilo recently opened its Center for Sleep Medicine facility.

Located at the 4th floor of the Medicus Health Partners Condo Clinics in Mandurriao (will soon relocate to Medicus Medical Center beside this building), the Medicus Center for Sleep Medicine provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment for sleep disorders.

It is equipped with a state-of-the-art technology including a Sleep Disorders Clinic, a Sleep Laboratory and a CPAP Clinic.

Medicus Center for Sleep Medicine is the only sleep clinic in Iloilo to have an in-house equipment. It can cater to patient’s needs anytime and the results are guaranteed within 24 hours. Sleep home testing is also available upon patient’s request.

The facility is also the first to offer daytime sleep tests such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) and Maintenance of Wakefulness (MWT).

Leading the new Medicus Center for Sleep Medicine is Dr. Ely H. Hibionada, an Ilonggo expert in sleep medicine with at least eleven years of practice in Canada. He studied Sleep Medicine Technology at The Michener Institute in Toronto, Canada and he is a fellow of the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine and Canadian Sleep Society.

The most common sleep disorder is the Obstructive Sleep Apnea, which causes snoring. If you snore, it may signal that you are at risk for high blood pressure, stroke, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes or arrhythmia.

Dr. Hibionada returned home to serve his fellow Ilonggos and offer treatment for this prevalent yet often ignored medical condition.

Half of my patients here at the sleep disorders clinic are INSOMNIACS! People who has difficulty initiating sleep or maintaining sleep or wakes up very early and can’t go back to sleep anymore.
