Megaworld kicks off Iloilo Project

Philippine’s top property developer Megaworld Corporation embarks on a new wave of developments after it slew down due to the world’s financial tough times. Megaworld is now developing the 54.5-hectare Old Iloilo Airport property in Mandurriao after few years of its acquisition.

Known to be a catalyst of changing the urban landscaping in Manila, Megaworld is expected to build several midrise mix-use buildings in its Iloilo property with the Live-Work-Play-Learn credo like its flagship project, Eastwood City. It will be of course a smaller development compared to its Manila counterparts, but it will significantly give boost to Iloilo’s local economy. It is envisioned to be Iloilo’s New Central Business District.

Megaworld’s Central Business District is adjacent to KAPIDECO where Ateneo de Iloilo’s new campus is located and a lot of neighboring developments such as Injap’s People’s Condominium and others. Also on the neighborhood is the now bustling Smallville and Boardwalk Commercial Complexes where Iloilo’s night life thrive and Ayala Land’s Technohub is located.

Kudos to Megaworld for putting its trust in Iloilo’s market and profitability.

P.S. Just some thought on the ongoing development. From what’s going on, perhaps Megaworld will be using underground electrical cable wirings.

    That’s great! Iloilo must have a Central Business District to boost our provincial economy and to attract local and foreign investors. Philippines has already overtaken India when it comes to BPO industry.

    This is one of the reasons BPO industry should expand outside the congested Manila area. And Megaworld has the right choice to select Iloilo: Business friendly and talented Ilonggos.

    I hope Municipality of Sta. Barbara must prioritize and support business investors also as well as promoting tourism since it is the gateway to Iloilo City.

    Let us not underestimate the potential of Iloilo city by saying that megaworld’s development will be smaller than Manila. Let us not think always that we should only be inferior to Manila or Cebu because we deserve and badly need huge impact developments and projects from Megaworld. The city is growing we must have and need huge and impact developments let us not settle anymore for mediocre projects. I hope all Ilonggos should erase that inferiority so that we can be truly proud of our city rising to greatness again!
