SM Hypermarket’s Super Sized Cook Off in Iloilo
SM Hypermarket Iloilo set a record in serving the most bowls of Batchoy in one event. On its 10th anniversary, SM Hypermarket brought the Super Sized Cook Off in Iloilo last November 14, 2011.
There were seven team contenders from local carenderias and caterers who fared for the best tasting Batchoy and the most number of bowls served on a specified time. They consisted of Inggos Batchoy, Francisco’s Refreshment and Catering Services, NT Eatery, Uhnie and Uno, Tata’s Batchoy, Saff Eatery and Lorlour Pizza.
Lorlour Pizza emerged as both the Grand Winner of the SM Hypermarket Supersized La Paz Batchoy Cook Off with its Best Tasting La Paz Batchoy and the Most Number of Servings with at least 546 cups served. They went home with a total of P50,000 worth of SM Gift Certificate and plaques.
Iloilo’s all time favorite Lapaz Batchoy is made up with meat broth, pork meat, liver and entrails, vegetables, miki noodles and crushed pork chicharon served piping hot.
Aside from Iloilo, the Super Sized Cook Off was also held at SM Hypermarket branch in Pampanga (Sisig), Batangas (Bulalo) and Cebu (Bibingka).
The Cook-off is one of the three components of the SM Hypermarket Master Chefs which began in July 2011. The two other events were a cooking marathon and kitchen make-overs.
