SM Master Chefs Cooking Marathon 2011 at SM Hypermarket Iloilo
The 6th leg of the SM Master Chefs 2011 Cooking Marathon has reached the Iloilo shores.
SM Hypermarket celebrates its 10th year anniversary of serving the Filipino with a bang. In line with its grand celebration, SM launched the SM Master Chefs 2011, a composite event made up of three components – a grand cooking demo, kitchen makeovers, and a set of cook-offs that are set to make foodie history.
From July to September this year, every week in three months, SM Master Chefs will conduct a marathon of cooking demos that will tour SM Hypermarket branches all over the country, showcasing innovations in culinary products and cooking aids.
The SM Master Chefs Cooking Marathon at SM Hypermarket Iloilo branch was simultaneously held with SM Hypermarkets in Makati, Valenzuela and Pampanga last July 21, 2011. Shoppers were entertained and treated with a cooking-demo, food-tasting and some raffles. Chef Jose Ricky Paborada, a renowned chef in Iloilo handled the cooking demo for the Iloilo leg. Chef Paborada has been in the culinary scene since 1995 boasting to have worked as the chef of top restaurants in Metro Manila. He’s currently a house chef and instructor at Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus here in Iloilo.
A total of 3 dishes were cooked on site using the cooking aid and innovative ingredients provided by the sponsors.
First off was the Beef Adobo, a beef sirloin (sukiyaki cut) seasoned with garlic, ground peppercorns, bayleaf and canola oil spiced up with Knorr Liquid Seasoning and Knorr Tamarind Soup Base.
The second recipe was the Menudo Tapas Version. It is made up of pork loin (salpicao cut) with garlic, chorizo bilbao, carrots, green peas, tomato sauce, kasubha, liver spread seasoned with Knorr Liquid Seasoning, Knorr Tamarind Soup Base and Knorr Rostip.
The last item was the Beef Steak which was tasted with Knorr Demi Glace sauce mix and Clara Ole’s Cheesy Pesto sauce.
