The town of San Joaquin in Southern Iloilo is not only known for their Cemetery with Baroque Campo Santo architecture but also for their sweet peanut delicacies locally called Bandi. This town boosts with its vast peanut crops and these peanuts are made into a brittle or bandi. Some are sold bare but most of them are caramelized and sugar coated.
These delicacies are retailed along the highway in Brgy Tiolas that’s after San Joaquin’s town proper when you are driving bound Antique from Iloilo City. The stores are arrayed along the streets selling variety of Bandi from small to a plate-size and in many forms. Many local and foreign tourists frequently drop by San Joaquin for these dainties not to mention the town is a gateway bordering the adventure province of Antique.
How to get there:
Iloilo City – Joaquin jeepneys have frequent trips but they are just up to the town proper of San Joaquin. However, you can take the bus bound for Antique and just tell the Conductor that you are dropping at where Bandi are sold in San Joaquin. The terminal is in Molo just before the Plaza.
