Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington Opens August 31

From the award-winning filmmakers Michiko Yamamoto (writer of the excellent tearjerker “Magnifico”), Jade Castro (director of the charming love story “Endo”), and Raymond Lee (writer of box-office gems “Anak”, “Milan”, and “In My Life”, and producer of “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros”) here comes another epic and winsome thriller cum comedy cum coming-of-age story, Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington. The movie is all about a curse, gay zombies, and a boy’s journey into gayhood and back – while being chased by a pink scarf and a congregation of dead badings brought back to life.

The star-studded cast is composed of young stars and veterans that include Lauren Young, Janice de Belen, John Regala, Roderick Paulate, Eugene Domingo, Angelina Kanapi, Leandro Baldemor, Daniel Fernando, Kerbie Zamora and Martin Escudero as Remington.

“Libre Pa-Sine” Project offers Free Movies for Iloilo City’s Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens of Iloilo City can now enjoy FREE movies at the city’s premier cinemas, courtesy of the Iloilo City Local Government Unit.

The Iloilo City Government in partnership with SM City Iloilo launched the “Libre Pa-Sine”, a project that will give the elderly free access to movies.

This project will provide senior citizens a little diversion and relaxation without exhausting their meager monthly pensions. They will be able to use that money for some other things they might need instead.

Timezone opens in Iloilo

Timezone, the Ayala-managed chain of family entertainment centers has just opened a branch in Iloilo City. Co-located with SM Storyland at the Lower Ground Floor of SM City Iloilo, Timezone occupies a rather small portion of the space. SM Storyland’s Party Room and Kiddie Bump Car are still in place and operational. When you look at it, you can say, a Timezone within a SM Storyland. Nevertheless it is still great to enjoy playing with the popular arcade games offered exclusively at Timezone without going anywhere.

Built in 1999, SM City Iloilo has already reached its full occupancy level, hence the crowding of its mall locators.

Mexican-inspired dining at Mooon Café Iloilo

Iloilo City is flourishing with a good number of restaurants serving delectable fares from different cuisines. And Mooon Café is one of them.

Mooon Café was established in Cebu by a group of young Fine Arts entrepreneurs, catering to everyone’s favorite, Mexican inspired cuisine. Later in March 2007, it was acquired by Pages Holdings, Inc. which paved the way for the restaurant’s reinvention and later its aggressive expansion.

Lamesa Grill Iloilo Now Open

A newest restaurant in town has just opened its doors to the Ilonggos. Located at the Southpoint, a two-storey annex of SM City Iloilo, Lamesa Grill started grilling last April 10, 2011.

Lamesa Grill is a modern Filipino restaurant based in Manila that offers a new dining experience or simply a restaurant with a twist in the way the food is serve and how they are prepared.

Starbucks Coffee Iloilo Now Open

After months of speculating, Starbucks Coffee finally opened its doors to the Ilonggos.

Located at the newly constructed SM City Iloilo Southpoint, Starbucks officially opened its first store in Iloilo yesterday, April 10, 2011. It is the third store in Western Visayas, after Boracay and Bacolod.

The opening of Iloilo branch is part of Rustan’s aggressive expansion to the provinces outside Luzon. Recently, few more branches were opened in Cagayan de Oro and Naga with another one opening soon in Davao.

Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2011 Winners

Samantha Marie Amparo of West Visayas State University emerged as the Miss Dinagyang 2011. The coronation night was held at the SM City Iloilo Cinema 6, hosted by actor Derek Ramsay. Amparo was crowned by Senator Loren Legarda together with Iloilo City Vice Mayor Joe Espinosa III.
