| August 19, 2011 | 0 Comments

The new iconic structure atop the under-construction Iloilo City Hall was already installed yesterday. The larger than life, “Lin-ay“, the Statue of Ilonggo Pride is a 15-foot statue of an Ilongga woman and will become the newest landmark with the new Iloilo City Hall building.

A work of art by Iloilo based renowned multi-media visual artist, Ed Defensor, Lin-ay depicts a composite characteristics of a traditional Ilongga woman.

A magnificent full view of Lin-ay can be seen from the San Jose Church, on the other side of Plaza Libertad.

Meanwhile, the new Iloilo City Hall is expected to be operational by early 2012, a few months delayed from the previous target opening of August or September this year.

Below are some photos of the installation of Lin-ay courtesy of Ed Defensor.
