Iloilo was one of the most devastated province during the onslaught of typhoon Frank also known as “Fengshen”. After such an awful nature’s cataclysm that stamped out many lives and destroyed millions of properties Ilonggos after 1 year have now been aggressively recovered from the mud and spelt it all into the pages of history. In line with the commemoration of the 1st year anniversary of the tragedy, last June 21, 2009 several events had been thrown not to celebrate the catastrophe but to celebrate the oneness and unity of the Ilonggos in facing such calamity. Most of these includes tree planting activities by various sectors of the society especially the private companies and institutions and photo exhibits to reminisce the enormous cooperation and to see the hope of every Ilonggo. Some said that it would take much time for Iloilo to recover after those huge damages caused by “Frank” but then it turned out wrong, with the efforts invested by every Ilonggo, Iloilo has recuperated in not less than 1 month. Of course recognizing the aid given by the government and various institutions. Overall, after one year Ilonggos can now look back to the pages of time and say that we’ve learned a lot and we stood still amidst the trials that mother nature has given us.
