Timezone opens in Iloilo
Timezone, the Ayala-managed chain of family entertainment centers has just opened a branch in Iloilo City. Co-located with SM Storyland at the Lower Ground Floor of SM City Iloilo, Timezone occupies a rather small portion of the space. SM Storyland’s Party Room and Kiddie Bump Car are still in place and operational. When you look at it, you can say, a Timezone within a SM Storyland. Nevertheless it is still great to enjoy playing with the popular arcade games offered exclusively at Timezone without going anywhere.
Built in 1999, SM City Iloilo has already reached its full occupancy level, hence the crowding of its mall locators.
Timezone is using a magnetic swipecard system called the Timezone Powercard instead of the regular token. Customers don’t need to carry on a lot of tokens around while playing. With Powercard they just need to deposit a larger amount of money in their Powercard accounts. To use a machine, they simply had to swipe their card through a detector located on the machine, and the credit would be deduced from the card account.
Timezone is owned by Australian company Leisure and Allied Industries which operates over 200 Family Entertainment Centers in this brand in several countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Vietnam and the Philippines. Timezone Philippines is a joint venture between Ayala Land Inc., and the Australian company. It came to the country in 1997 and at present Timezone has already over 50 Family Entertainment Centers nationwide.
SM City Iloilo
More and more businesses are opening their branches in Iloilo especially at SM City. It is high time for the Sy-led mall to expand its presence here to accommodate the growing demand for mall spaces. Although there are still available spaces in other malls in the city, it is undeniable that most businesses prefer to put their branches in known mall brands like SM.
